Zoom is expanding its APAC footprint by promoting Carlos Quaderi from Head of Asia to Head of Asia Pacific, effective August 1, 2026, adding Australia, New Zealand, India, and Korea to his existing remit. Quaderi, a 30-year veteran with senior stints at Microsoft, AWS, and Workday, will report to Chief Sales and Growth Officer Graeme Geddes. The mandate covers enterprise and SMB growth, the customer experience business, and partner ecosystem expansion, backed by a new Singapore office.
What this means for your business
If you’re a revenue or customer experience leader in APAC evaluating collaboration and CX platforms, this move signals that Zoom is shifting from a product-led pandemic beneficiary into a regionally invested, sales-driven competitor for enterprise wallet share. The companies most exposed are those mid-renewal on Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, or Genesys contracts, because Zoom is explicitly targeting the intersection where collaboration tools meet customer experience workflows, and Quaderi’s background at AWS and Workday makes him credible in exactly those enterprise procurement conversations.
Zoom’s strategic framing here is “system of action,” meaning a platform that doesn’t just host meetings but connects AI-driven workflows across departments and business applications. That’s a direct play against Microsoft’s Copilot-integrated Teams and Salesforce’s Einstein-embedded Service Cloud. The bet is that APAC enterprises, which tend to run more heterogeneous tech stacks than their North American counterparts, will prefer an open ecosystem over a single-vendor bundle. That bet is plausible, but it requires Zoom’s AI features to be meaningfully better at cross-platform integration than what incumbents already ship natively.
The vendor to watch isn’t Zoom’s direct communications competitors. It’s the CX platform layer, specifically contact center software, where Zoom’s CX business is competing against well-entrenched players with deeper APAC partner networks. If Zoom’s partner ecosystem expansion in Singapore produces measurable reseller traction by mid-2027, the open-ecosystem argument gains real teeth. If it doesn’t, this appointment reads as a regional sales reorganization dressed in AI language, and the renewal decision for your current CX vendor becomes a lot simpler.
Based on reporting from Zoom appoints Carlos Quaderi Head of APAC to lead AI-powered business growth, originally published 2026-07-20 03:52:00.
