NIIT University is betting that certifications beat credentials, embedding ServiceNow’s enterprise AI training directly into its BTech programs in Computer Science, AI and Data Science, and Cyber Security. Students get structured coursework in cloud platform development, enterprise workflow automation, and agentic AI (AI systems that can plan and act across tasks without constant human instruction), plus a path to ServiceNow’s CSA and CAD certifications. ServiceNow has publicly committed to training one million learners in India.

What this means for your business

The talent gap this partnership targets is real, but the beneficiaries are unevenly distributed. Companies already running ServiceNow at scale, which means most large enterprises in BFSI, IT services, and manufacturing, will eventually see candidates arrive pre-credentialed for roles that today require expensive post-hire ramp time. Companies that don’t run ServiceNow get nothing from this pipeline except more engineers fluent in one vendor’s mental model of how enterprise workflows should work.

That vendor-specific framing is worth sitting with. ServiceNow’s academic partnerships program, announced with obvious interest in expanding its installed base, is genuinely training students in agentic AI and cloud development. But the certifications are proprietary, which means the skills are portable only to the degree ServiceNow is ubiquitous. CHROs building workforce strategy around “AI-ready graduates” need to distinguish between platform fluency and foundational capability. A CSA cert signals that a candidate can administer a specific platform on day one; it says less about whether they can architect AI solutions when the platform changes.

Watch the curriculum details that haven’t been released yet. If NU’s agentic AI modules teach transferable reasoning about agent design, this partnership adds real depth to India’s engineering talent pool and CHROs should treat these graduates as a net upgrade over the baseline. If the modules are thinly veiled ServiceNow product walkthroughs, the credential will inflate faster than the skill. The tell will be whether graduates perform in roles at non-ServiceNow shops, and that data will exist within two hiring cycles.
