The company posted $782 million in Q2 revenue, up 8% year over year, and closed its largest-ever CXone and Cognigy deal, an eight-figure contract with the UK’s tax authority HMRC delivered through Capgemini. AI annual recurring revenue hit $362 million, up 52%. The stock fell roughly 6% anyway. Analysts want to know how much of that AI growth is organic versus acquired through the Cognigy acquisition, and NiCE’s answer was uncomfortable.

What this means for your business

If you’re running a contact center on CXone or evaluating NiCE against Genesys or Salesforce Agentforce, Wall Street’s skepticism is actually useful signal for your next vendor conversation. The analyst who backed out Cognigy’s contribution and found organic AI ARR growth closer to sub-30% than 52% is doing the same math your procurement team should run. NiCE’s CFO declined to engage with that calculation directly, which means the “52% AI growth” figure your account team will quote deserves a follow-up question about what’s native versus acquired capability.

NiCE’s data-ownership argument is genuinely the strongest card it holds, and it’s worth taking seriously rather than dismissing as vendor positioning. The claim is structural, not just competitive: whoever holds the full history of voice interactions, intent signals, and resolution outcomes becomes the layer that AI-native point solutions, the focused tools built to handle specific tasks like call deflection or voice agents, have to license data from or integrate against. TripAdvisor going live on Cognigy voice agents in two and a half months, and GX Bank hitting 70% AI-autonomous chat resolution, are real production numbers, not pilot metrics. The question for a CX leader isn’t whether NiCE can demonstrate outcomes, it’s whether those outcomes require the full platform or whether a modular stack achieves the same result with more flexibility.

The UCaaS retreat matters more than it sounds. NiCE is now routing unified communications demand to RingCentral rather than building it out, which tells you where the company has decided its margin and differentiation live. It’s not building toward a single-vendor everything bundle. It’s narrowing to AI orchestration and contact center data as the defensible core. For any CMO or CRO who assumed NiCE was the path to consolidating all customer communication under one contract, that consolidation play is off the table. The renewal conversation you already own is really a question about how much of the AI layer you want sitting inside a platform you don’t fully control versus keeping those components portable.

Based on reporting from NiCE Landed Its Biggest Deal Ever.
