Forrester’s Q3 2026 Wave on customer feedback management and analytics names Medallia the sole Leader, a break from prior Waves where it shared the top tier with Qualtrics and others. Qualtrics, Sprinklr and CallMiner land in Strong Performers. The analysts’ central argument is that programs stall on data fragmentation and organizational friction, not analytics capability, a claim backed by Oxford Economics data showing only 25% of organizations call their CX tech environment fully integrated.
What this means for your business
The gap Forrester is flagging isn’t between vendors, it’s between how CMOs are buying and what actually determines whether a feedback program produces action. Organizations still shopping on AI demo quality, while leaving identity resolution (the process of linking customer records across channels into a single profile) and data governance unsolved internally, are buying a capability they can’t use. The Oxford Economics finding that 58% of siloed organizations can’t connect customer needs to actionable insight, versus 47% of integrated ones, puts a number on the cost of skipping the plumbing.
Medallia’s solo position is real news, but the more revealing data point came from Medallia’s own chief strategy officer, who said unprompted that most of its customer base is still at level one, meaning traditional post-experience surveys, with only a minority pursuing AI-enabled programs. The market’s acknowledged leader is telling you its own customers haven’t moved past the baseline. That’s not a knock on Medallia. It’s a structural warning about how far the category’s actual deployment lags its marketing narrative, and it applies to every vendor in the Wave.
Qualtrics is reframing its north-star metric from NPS to customer lifetime value, CallMiner is arguing conversation intelligence can eventually replace survey platforms entirely, and Cresta is betting enterprise buyers shift toward 100% conversation coverage over solicited feedback. Each of those bets represents a different answer to the same question: what does a feedback program look like when surveys are no longer the primary input? CMOs renewing or re-evaluating contracts this year should weigh which bet their current vendor is making, because the winner of that argument determines which data model they’re locked into three years from now.
Concept deep-dive: Neurosymbolic AI
Neurosymbolic AI combines large language models with explicit business rules, taxonomies and knowledge graphs, the structured vocabularies that define how concepts relate to each other in a specific industry or company. Think of it as pairing a generalist who reads everything with a specialist who knows the rulebook. LLMs alone drift and struggle to explain their reasoning; rules-based systems alone buckle under the volume and variety of modern customer feedback. The hybrid is what Forrester argues enterprise-grade platforms need to produce consistent, auditable insight at scale.
