Salesforce is betting that AI agents aren’t a threat to its platform, they’re the product. Agentforce annual recurring revenue crossed $1.5 billion in Q2 fiscal 2027, up more than 240% year over year, while Agentforce and Data Cloud together approached $3.9 billion combined. Total revenue hit $11.3 billion, up 11%, and current remaining performance obligations, the contracted future revenue already on the books, rose 14% to $33.5 billion. Bank of America’s Tal Liani flipped from Underperform to Buy, lifting his target from $160 to $285.
What this means for your business
The 240% growth rate is dramatic, but the base matters. Agentforce launched broadly in late 2024, so the comparison period was near-zero. What’s harder to dismiss is the $33.5 billion in remaining performance obligations, because that’s signed contracts, not pipeline. If your organization is currently mid-cycle on a Salesforce renewal or expansion, you’re negotiating from a weaker position than you were eighteen months ago. Salesforce now has proof of demand, and it will price accordingly.
The Slack integration is the move that deserves more attention than it’s getting. Embedding Agentforce directly into Slack, so sales reps can query customer records and trigger workflows inside a conversation thread, collapses the distance between the AI layer and where selling actually happens. This is the recurring playbook for platforms trying to make agents sticky: put the capability inside the daily-use surface so adoption doesn’t require behavior change. For organizations that already run Slack and Salesforce together, the switching cost just got meaningfully higher.
The question Liani’s upgrade implicitly answers, and that every CRO with a Salesforce contract should be asking, is whether Agentforce revenue is additive or cannibalistic to seat-based licensing. If enterprises are buying agent capacity on top of existing subscriptions, Salesforce’s revenue ceiling rises sharply. If agents substitute for seats, the unit economics flip. The 11% total revenue growth alongside 240% Agentforce growth suggests additive for now, but any renegotiation conversation should put that assumption on the table explicitly. I’d revise this read if Salesforce’s net revenue retention starts declining while Agentforce ARR climbs.
Based on reporting from Salesforce Shares Rise 3.49% as Agentforce ARR Tops $1.5 Billion, originally published 2026-10-13 11:53:00.
